about the initiative

Bio Composting Unit

The Bio Composting Unit at Vasantrao Naik Mahavidyalaya was established under the college’s Green Initiative to convert organic campus waste — including kitchen scraps, garden trimmings, dry leaves, and biodegradable refuse — into high-quality compost through both aerobic decomposition and vermicomposting methods. The compost produced is used in the college’s botanical garden, distributed to students for home gardening, and supplied to local farmers — completing a sustainable cycle that returns nutrients to the soil while dramatically reducing the volume of organic waste sent to landfills.
