The Admission Committee in an Autonomous College plays a vital role in ensuring transparent, fair, efficient, and merit-based admissions in accordance with the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC), State Government, affiliating university, and institutional policies.

Responsibilities of committee

1. Planning and Coordination of Admissions
- Prepare the admission schedule for all UG, PG, Diploma, and Certificate programs.
- Coordinate with departments regarding sanctioned intake and program availability.
- Ensure smooth execution of the admission process in both online and offline modes.
- Develop admission strategies aligned with institutional goals and NEP 2020 provisions.

2. Framing Admission Policies
Recommend admission rules, eligibility criteria, and selection procedures as per UGC regulations, State Government norms, Reservation policies, and Autonomous college regulations. Ensure transparency and fairness in admission procedures.

3. Publicity and Student Outreach
Publish admission notifications, brochures, and prospectus. Promote newly introduced courses and multidisciplinary programs. Organize admission guidance sessions, career counselling, orientation programs, and school and junior college outreach activities. Maintain updated admission information on the college website and social media platforms.

4. Counselling and Guidance
Guide students regarding choice of programs, Eligibility conditions, Career opportunities, NEP-based curriculum structure, multiple entry and exit options, Academic Bank of Credits (ABC). Assist students and parents during the admission process.

5. Verification of Documents
Scrutinize and verify Mark sheets, Transfer certificates, Caste certificates, Income certificates, Migration certificates, Gap certificates, Identity documents. Ensure authenticity and compliance with institutional regulations.

6. Merit List Preparation
To conduct CET, prepare, publish provisional and final merit lists. Ensure implementation of reservation policies and weightage criteria wherever applicable. Maintain transparency in allotment of seats.

7. Admission Process Management
Supervise Application collection, Data entry, Seat allotment, Fee payment, Enrolment procedures. Coordinate with Accounts section, Examination section, ERP cell, Departments, Student support services.

8. Compliance with Regulatory Bodies
Ensure adherence to UGC regulations, State Government directives, Affiliating university norms, Reservation policies, Anti-ragging regulations. Maintain records required for audits, NAAC, and statutory inspections.

9. Maintenance of Admission Records
Maintain accurate and confidential student admission records. Prepare statistical reports related to Category-wise admissions, Gender ratio, Program-wise enrolment, Vacant seats, Minority and reserved category admissions. Submit reports to management and regulatory authorities.

10. Grievance Redressal
Address admission-related grievances of students and parents. Ensure timely resolution of disputes regarding Merit lists, Eligibility, Fees, Reservation claims, Document verification.

11. Support for Inclusive Education
Facilitate admissions for Economically weaker sections, Divyangjan students, Minority students, International students (if applicable). Promote gender equity and inclusive practices.

12. Preparation of Admission Reports
Prepare annual admission reports for Governing Body, Academic Council, IQAC, NAAC documentation, AISHE and other surveys.
