Department of History

The Department of History has been a proud part of Vasantrao Naik Mahavidyalay since its very foundation on 1st July 1972. The department was established under the visionary leadership of Founder Secretary and present Chairman of the VNSP Mandal, Principal Shri. Rajaramji Rathod, who served as its first Head. Other founding faculty members included Shri. B. Raje, Shri. K. R. Gaikwad, and Shri. T. M. Rathod.

The department offers a comprehensive study of Indian and world history — from ancient civilisations to modern political movements — with a strong focus on preparing students for competitive examinations (MPSC, UPSC, NET, SET) and careers in archaeology, education, administration, and research.

A unique feature of the department is the Brahmi Lipi Course — a special certificate programme in the ancient Brahmi script, equipping students with rare palaeographic skills used in archaeological and historical research.
