The Library Committee is an important academic and advisory body in an Autonomous College that assists in the development, modernization, effective management, and quality enhancement of the library and learning resources in accordance with institutional objectives, NEP 2020, NAAC requirements, and academic needs.

Responsibilities of Librarian

Policy Formulation and Planning :
Formulate library policies, rules, and regulations. Prepare short-term and long-term plans for library development. Recommend measures for modernization and automation of library services. Ensure alignment of library services with institutional vision and mission.

Development of Library Resources :
Recommend procurement of Textbooks, Reference books, Journals, E-books, E-journals, Databases, Magazines, Newspapers. Ensure adequate and updated learning resources for all programs and departments. Promote acquisition of multidisciplinary and skill-based learning resources as per NEP 2020.

Budget Planning and Utilization :
Recommend annual library budget. Monitor effective utilization of library grants and funds. Suggest priorities for purchase of books, journals, software, and digital resources.

Library Automation and Digitalization :
Promote Library automation, Digital library initiatives, Institutional repositories, Barcode/RFID systems, Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC), Encourage use of ICT-enabled library services.

Promotion of Reading Culture :
Organize Book exhibitions, Reading campaigns, Library orientation programs, Book review activities, Author lectures, Reading competitions. Encourage reading habits among students and staff.

User Support and Student Services :
Ensure user-friendly library services. Facilitate access to E-resources, Remote learning materials, Competitive examination resources, Research databases, Address issues related to library access and services.

Monitoring Library Services :
Review Issue-return system, Library attendance, Utilization of resources, Digital access statistics, Reading room facilities. Suggest improvements in library functioning.

Support for Research and Innovation :
Facilitate access to Research journals, Plagiarism detection tools, Citation databases, Research repositories. Support faculty and student research activities. Encourage use of open educational resources (OER).

Coordination with Departments and IQAC :
Obtain departmental requirements for books and journals. Coordinate with IQAC for quality enhancement initiatives. Assist in NAAC, NIRF, and academic audit documentation related to library resources.

Maintenance and Infrastructure Development :
Recommend improvements in Reading rooms, Digital library section, Internet facilities, Furniture and infrastructure, Accessibility for Divyangjan students. Ensure proper maintenance and preservation of library resources.

Compliance and Record Maintenance :
Maintain records related to Stock verification, Accession registers, Subscription details, Utilization reports. Ensure compliance with audit and statutory requirements.

Feedback and Quality Improvement :
Collect feedback from students and faculty regarding library services. Analyze user satisfaction and suggest corrective measures. Introduce innovative library practices for quality enhancement.
