Introduction & Autonomy Status
Our college has been granted Autonomous Status by the University Grants Commission (UGC). This status grants us the freedom to design our own curriculum, launch new degree courses, and develop evaluation methods to prepare students according to industry needs.
Vasantrao Naik Mahavidyalaya has been conferred with Autonomous Status in the year 2025–26. The college will remain affiliated to Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Dr. BAMU) while exercising full academic autonomy.

1972
Foundation & Start of the Educational Mission
Vasantrao Naik Mahavidyalaya was established at CIDCO, Aurangabad, with a vision to provide quality higher education to rural and underprivileged students.
1980 – 1990
Era of Expansion
Significant growth across Arts, Commerce and Science faculties. Introduction of additional undergraduate programmes to serve the growing student community.
2000 – 2010
Quality Development & Infrastructure Strengthening
Major investments in physical and academic infrastructure, faculty development programmes, library modernization and the first NAAC cycles.
2015 – 2020
Era of Innovation
NEP 2020 preparation commenced. Digital classrooms introduced. Research Cell established. ICT-enabled teaching and CBCS syllabus implementation.
2025
Milestone Year — Excellent NAAC Performance
Achieved exceptional results in the NAAC IV Cycle assessment, receiving commendations for research output, faculty quality, and student support systems.
2026
Autonomy Achieved & New Age Degrees Launched
UGC Autonomous Status conferred. Launch of 10 new-age degree programmes including Physical Education, Yoga & Sports, Data Science, and Digital Technologies.
